It: Welcome to Derry Episode 1 Review

IT: Welcome to Derry - IGN

 4/10

The pilot episode of “Welcome to Derry” nods to Stephen King’s unsettling world, yet neither its atmosphere nor its characters leave a lasting impression on the viewer. While it attempts to visually capture the bleakness of 1960s Derry, the story feels uneven and shallow. The horror scenes, rather than building tension, come across as artificial and fleeting, leaving the pilot often filled with unresolved curiosity.  Unfortunately, the performances fail to carry the story.

Most of the acting feels flat and unconvincing. Clara Stack’s portrayal of Lilly tries to shine at times, but the shortcomings of the script prevent it from succeeding. Ultimately, the “Welcome to Derry” pilot disappoints, falling short of high expectations and giving off a sense of Stranger Things imitation, leaving viewers underwhelmed.
